
KUMEYAAY LAND
Living in their ancestral home of Baja California, Mexico, the Kumeyaay community of San José de la Zorra are resisting the invasion to keep their culture, their land and their water.
“Kumeyaay Land” was commissioned by the head of the community Doña Eva Carillo and Fausto Diaz.
The documentary received Red Nation Award of Excellence for Best Documentary Short Subject at Red Nation Film Festival, Environmental, Social, Economic, Political Justice Award for Indigenous America at Latino & Native American Film Festival, Kurrak Special Jury Award for Best Documentary Short at Valle de Guadalupe Film Festival, and Honorable Mention for Best Mexican Documentary at Shorts México. It was nominated Best Frontera Short at San Diego Latino Film Festival, and Best Short Documentary at Annual Aarhus Film Festival.
